A critically acclaimed chef
"Penacio" is the name of a historic trattoria in Arcugnano, in the Berici Hills, which is particularly appreciated by Vicenza's food lovers. In recent years, however, another "Penacio" has come to the fore, a prestigious restaurant in which Enzo Gianello dedicates himself to high profile cuisine, adding dishes from Vicenza's tradition to the fish recipes that have earned him accolades from the food critics.
A refined and intimate establishment
The establishment is refined, divided into spaces that create a sense of intimacy. The environment is elegantly furnished with warm colours in a modern style. On the other side of a glass wall, the fireplace can be seen where meat is grilled and cooked on a spit. The wine list includes 200 Italian labels - particularly from the Triveneto, Piedmont and Tuscany - in addition to a good selection of foreign wines. The restaurant displays an array of extra virgin olive oil bottles from Veneto and Umbra, beside smaller bottles of home made balsamic vinegar. At the side, a small room is reserved for banquets serving 40 to 50 people.
An amazing variety of fish is delivered every day from Venice and the Adriatic ports: crustaceans, molluscs and the most prized species for lovers of raw and cooked fish. The starter of sea-bass carpaccio with tuna tartare, the delicious calamari soup and Mediterranean-style tuna escalope are particularly worth mentioning. not forgetting the grande piatto del mare, a dish offering a selection of all the best fish on sale at the market. All this food is seasoned with excellent olive oil and washed down with the best white wines.
